Title

Object-oriented Analysis, Design and Simulation of Process Control Systems

Goals

  1. Design of Reusable generic classes and patterns for process control systems.
  2.
  3. Development of an object library consisting of process models for process industries.
  4.
  5. System Modeling, Analysis and Design of a steam boiler control system using these frameworks.
  6.
  7. Validation of the models

Abstract

Control system design for the domain of Process Industries is a task demanding multi-disciplinary knowledge and skills. A variety of computer-aided tools are available for the design of general-purpose control systems. Object-oriented analysis and design methods have strengthened control system modeling and design using computers. A domain specific model for process control system design will be of tremendous help to analysis and design of process control systems. Patterns have played a major role in providing a basic framework in all areas of design, especially software engineering. This project explores a UML framework for process control system modeling and design using generic class library and patterns. This consists of the design of abstract classes for common processes and a generic patterns using these abstractions.
